Why did Dove run this campaign?
I would have liked to show people the vision and values of the Dove company.
What's Dove's vision?
We want to redefine the standards of beauty and make everyone feel positive about their own beauty and body image. That's why this video was made.
Now that we know why we're doing this brand campaign
You must have thought about how to do it.
How can I make people think they are beautiful?
And then one of the ideas would be, for example, something like this.
" My eyes are swollen because I slept right after eating ramen yesterday. My cheeks are swollen. I looked in the mirror and my face is a mess
" "No, it's the same as yesterday"
" "You don't look puffy at all. It's okay, but your eyes are big."
" Huh? Really? No, it's swollen..."
" Huh? Wait a minute... I think the image you see is different from the image you see others, but I think the latter would be much more positive... Is there a way to tell this to yourself objectively
"If you take a picture and show it to us?"
"The camera has to look the same because it's a camera that captures people"
"What we want to talk about is something more metaphysical? Image? Mindset?"
"Image. Not an image in your mind, but a real image. A picture. If you put it in a picture?"
"Okay, then let's try drawing by a professional portraitist. It's about drawing after listening to what you say
You draw two pictures of what others see and express yourself and show yourself the difference in the image."
I think this is the background of this idea.
People only see what they want to see. When someone feels their face is swollen, they only see that part when they look at the picture, which overwhelms the rest.
However, I think I wanted to show the person directly and let them know that most of the third parties tend to see this person's overall appearance as an objective but positive image centered on the merits of his appearance.
"You are more beautiful than you think."
When people buy a product, they look at the image or vision of the company itself, unless there is a feature or patent technology that only an exceptional company has.
Dove, in a way, is a company that sells products for skin and hair. They sell shampoo and soap, but he already knew that there were some limitations to differentiating these consumer goods. That's why he decided to increase the brand value.
I hope we think of you and you live more beautiful and positively and we think of future generations and the environment of the earth. I want to tell you this, but if you put it bluntly, who would think it's sincere.
I'm sure they thought it was one of the most important things they had to do to show it on video.
That's what they call the most essential and fundamental way to get their brand out to the world.
There are parts that I did well and parts that are right, but I don't think this is the only answer.
I don't think there's a right answer to marketing in the world, because it depends on when, when, when, and when, and when, it's linked to sales. That's why there are so many different marketing products.
I don't want to talk about this..
Shall we go into the video a bit more?
The video begins with the introduction of the FBI forensics artist.
(I'm sure he's got a great ability to draw a montage in the FBI.)
The reason I thought this person was the right person for this campaign is because I have to draw my face while listening to him talk.
From 1995 to 2011, I worked for a long time. I don't think I just drew a montage all day, but I think it will be excellent at drawing a montage of the criminal after hearing someone's statement.
But why did he show who this person was from the first scene? I think it's to make this man authentic and reliable no matter what he does next. It's because he's recruited a professional who is good at listening and drawing that most people can accept.
And hear directly from the participants how this project went.
(Sometimes it's a really good way to do it, if a Dove official told you about the project. Wouldn't the impact be a little lower? Compared to what an ordinary person who is not involved with this company says.)
Each participant expresses themselves in their own way. One thing to note here is that although the main thing is what you think, there was also a fact that others around you talked about you.
“My mom told me I had a big jaw” (0:34초)
0:51 seconds, this FBI forensics artist never looked at the participants' faces to maintain objectivity and to properly portray the person's image only as a full hearing of the person's image. This was also an important device to give more credibility to the later results.
And the first participant says it.
What he heard was that Chloe should take some time to get to know him.
But Chloe was the next contestant.
And before Chloe describes herself, she describes this very first participant.
This is all about the way this project worked.
And all the people who participated came out
Later, when the painting is finished, the participants enjoy two portraits of themselves.
One is me. The other is me.
That's who I am and what others see me
Seeing that the right side mostly looked much brighter and more beautiful, the participants gained confidence.
Actually, I would have known everything even if I didn't express it up to here.
The reason why I said it is
This whole story is a story that gives this video room to think about.
It's something I don't usually think about, but it could be the truth
That kind of thought. But at the same time, I look at the world more positively.
This is actually what Dove wanted, and he showed us the last message in person, the culmination of the fire dragon
I took it.
Actually, this video isn't that addictive to me. I don't feel like I want to keep replaying it. But what if I happened to see this video, when someone was getting hurt physically and quite discouraged, for example?
If I were that person, wouldn't I be so moved by this video and selected it as one of my life videos that I kept looking for and watching regularly?
I think this is one of the power of video. Everyone has their own trajectory in their lives, and even if they watch the same video in different situations, the magnitude of the impact can be completely different.
That's what I want to do, looking for a lot of videos that affect people, small or big.
Also, I want to find out if there is a general formula for touching or touching elements that these moving videos have in common.
Thank you for joining us on this journey.
